HOW TO MAKE CBD PAIN CREAM

HOW-TO-MAKE-CBD-PAIN-CREAM

Early studies suggest that CBD oil might help with pain and arthritis, and it is no wonder that many pain creams now feature CBD oil. Knowing how to prepare CBD pain creams helps you control the ingredients that go into the cream and save on cash for buying CBD. Here is a CBD pain cream recipe.

For many years, CBD oil remained under the radar and was outlawed. However, after the Farm Bill was passed in 2018, CBD oil and other industrial hemp products with less than 0.3% THC became federally legal, and different states have since then adopted CBD oil use in various delivery methods. Topical CBD products include balms, patches, creams, and massage oils, which most CBD users use to manage pain, although there is insufficient evidence to uphold the role of CBD in pain management. Preparing CBD pain cream allows the CBD user to control the ingredients that go into making the cream and to save on cost, and this article details everything you need to know about making the cream at home.

Introducing CBD Oil

With the much hype and haze around CBD oil, it is all the more important to understand CBD oil. What, though, is CBD oil? According to Bauer (2020), CBD is a cannabis extract and one of the many active compounds called cannabinoids in hemp, marijuana, and other cannabis plants. CBD oil is the diluted form of the CBD compound made by infusing CBD into a carrier oil, say hemp seed or olive oil. It is as abundant as THC, but it is non-psychoactive, and taking it does not make one high. In fact, most CBD users like it because of its non-psychoactive nature. Whether you take CBD oil in the edibles, capsules, vapes, or topicals, the products will not make you ‘high.’

Why CBD Pain Cream

CBD oil becomes part of the mainstream every other day, and its popularity rises further, with many people embracing it. CBD topicals have long been used, and according to cfah.org, they may help with arthritis. Of course, CBD studies are generally limited, and those attributing the cannabinoid to helping with pain rely mostly on anecdotal evidence. In another instance, Eskander et al. (2020) reported that CBD cream might help with chronic pain, especially arthritic pain. It is no wonder that many people are now using CBD pain creams to manage various types of pain.

Preparing CBD Pain Cream at Home- Why?

Checking most CBD specialty shops, stores, and health food stores that stock CBD products, you will notice that CBD pain creams are among the many products in the inventory, and you could easily pick them. Still, you can make CBD pain cream at home and save on some bucks. CBD products are generally expensive because of the cannabinoid’s novelty and the huge amount of cash for growing, harvesting, and processing hemp. Besides, licensing CBD firms and brands take a lot of money, further raising the price of the final CBD products. However, opting to prepare CBD pain creams and other products than buying them saves cost. Moreover, preparing CBD at home allows one to control the ingredients used to manufacture the products, which is better. That said, here are the ingredients and procedures for preparing CBD pain cream.

Ingredients

Preparing CBD pain cream requires the following ingredients;

– 14- 20 g of ground, dried cannabis
– 3 cups of coconut oil
– 2/3 cup of cup beeswax
– 2/3 cup of olive oil (or a substitute, although this is entirely optional)
– 1 baking sheet
– 1 saucepan
– 1 cheesecloth
– 1 jar
– Aluminum foil
– A few drops of essential oil

Procedure

With the above ingredients in place, proceed as follows to prepare CBD pain cream;

i. Preheat the oven to 240 degrees Fahrenheit.
ii. Spread the aluminum foil on the baking sheet ad put the dried cannabis flowers on it.
iii. Decarboxylate the cannabis flowers for 25- 30 minutes to let the inert cannabinoids become active.
iv. Put the saucepan on low heat, add the coconut oil to it, and stir continuously.
v. Add the decarboxylated cannabis flowers to the coconut oil on low heat and stir continuously for 20- 25 minutes.
vi. Put the cheesecloth on a pot or a cup, drain off the mixture, and put the deposit aside.
vii. Put the beeswax in a saucepan on heat and let it melt. As it melts, slowly add the coconut oil + cannabis flour mixture.
viii. Add a few drops of essential oils such as olive, lavender, peppermint, or tea tree oils.
ix. Once the mixing completes, the pain cream is well-formed. Remove the pan from the heat, allow it cool, and transfer it to the CBD pain cream container, which should be airtight to ensure the cream does not dry.

Which Container Best Suits the CBD Pain Cream?

With your CBD pain cream prepared, you want to ensure you give it the best storage conditions to ensure it serves you for long. Still, it is not easy which container best suits it. Do not put the cream in a cream pump since it will be mostly thick and might not come out smoothly. Whether you choose a plastic or metallic container, let it not take the form of a pump for ease of use.

How to Use the Homemade CBD Pain Cream

Many ask how to use CBD pain cream, which is a critical question, especially if you opt for CBD products for the first time. Using creams is easy; you only need to apply small amounts consistently to the affected area. There is no specific amount for every CBD user, specifically because it largely depends on the intensity of the pain. When it comes to determining how potent the cream should be, a lot comes to play, including the intensity of the pain and one’s makeup.

Conclusion

People use CBD pain creams to manage pain, although more studies are needed to confirm that CBD is efficacious for pain management. Preparing CBD cream at home gives you full control over what ingredients feature in the final products and allows you to save on the purchase, especially because CBD products are expensive. Herein discussed are the ingredient list and the procedure for preparing CBD pain cream.
